Vendor compliance and e-commerce: what’s the big deal?

Vendor compliance is an often overlooked, but critical component of any e-commerce fulfillment process, especially for those online sellers that use third party vendors to receive and ship product. Why? Simple – out of sight, out of mind. Until the numbers don’t add up, and then it’s a big, big deal.

Vendor compliance is a process that all brick and mortar retailers are familiar with. It happens at the distribution level and even in the store, and they have a system for capturing, tracking and receiving credit for vendor violations. But when a third party is storing your products, it’s a more difficult process to manage.

MKM creates customized compliance programs for each of its clients based on their unique needs. And regardless of the unique protocols, we inspect millions of units each year to ensure they pass muster. Since we began our e-commerce fulfillment division 6 years ago, we have filed over 4 million violations on behalf of our clients. That translates into a lot of money and better end purchaser satisfaction.

We also work with our client’s vendors to help reduce violations as a whole. No one wants violations. They are a costly mistake. So we create special programs to help reduce this waste for all parties involved. So far we’ve handled 1 million of these special projects and it helps reduce waste all the way down the supply chain.
